Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the result of Civil Services Examination 2025. This time too many inspirational stories have come to light. One of these names is Suraj Tiwari, resident of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. Suraj has once again surprised everyone by passing the UPSC exam. This time he has achieved All India Rank 943.
Suraj Tiwari’s story is not just about passing an exam, but it is an example of courage, hard work and strong intentions. He lost both his legs, one hand and three fingers of the other hand in a terrible train accident. Even after such a big accident, he did not give up and continued on the path of fulfilling his dreams.
The journey started from a small village of Mainpuri
Suraj Tiwari is a resident of Gharnajpur area of Kurawali tehsil of Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. His childhood was spent in an ordinary family. His father worked as a tailor and ran a small shop in Kurawali to support the family.
Suraj did his early education from Maharishi Parshuram School of his own area. After this, he passed the 10th class examination from SBRL Inter College, Mainpuri in the year 2011. For further studies, he completed 12th from Sampurnanand Inter College, Bewar in the year 2014. Suraj was good in studies from the beginning and dreamed of moving ahead. But in the year 2017, an accident happened in his life which changed everything.

Train accident changed life
On January 24, 2017, Suraj Tiwari became the victim of a train accident in Dadri area of Ghaziabad. This accident was so serious that he lost both his legs, one hand and two fingers of the other hand. After the accident, Suraj had to stay in the hospital for several months. Even after returning home, he had to remain in bed for about three months. During this period, his entire family went through a very difficult period. Meanwhile his brother also passed away. These difficulties that came one after another would have broken any person, but instead of accepting defeat, Suraj decided to move forward.
Continued studies even in difficult circumstances
After the accident, Suraj gradually started taking control of his life again. In the year 2018, he came to Delhi and took admission in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). Here he started studying BA. He completed his graduation in the year 2021. After this he also took admission in MA. During this time, he started preparing for UPSC Civil Services Examination. UPSC exam is considered one of the toughest exams in the country. But Suraj had decided that he would stay after passing this exam.
15 to 17 hours of hard work every day
Suraj Tiwari knew that there were more challenges before him. Despite this, he started preparations with full force. He used to study for about 15 to 17 hours every day. The special thing is that he did not take the help of any big coaching institute. He continued his preparation on the basis of his hard work and self-confidence. On the day of examination, Suraj reached the examination center in a wheelchair. Despite physical problems, he took the exam with full confidence.
Passed UPSC exam for the second time
Suraj Tiwari passed the UPSC Civil Services Examination for the first time in the year 2022. At that time he had achieved All India Rank 917. On the basis of this rank, he was selected in the Indian Information Service (IIS). Presently he is working as an officer in this service. Now once again Suraj Tiwari has passed the UPSC exam. This time he has secured 943rd rank.
