A major accident took place in the Khanna area of Ludhiana district of Punjab on late night of 27 July. It happened that a Bolero pickup car filled with devotees fell into the canal near the Jageda bridge. The devotees in the car were returning to Malerkotla after seeing Mother Shri Naina Devi.
About 10 to 15 people are expected to ride in this accident, including women, elderly and children. According to the information, the police and the local people are engaged in the rescue campaign by reaching the spot.
How did this accident happen?
This accident happened when the Bolero was returning from Rada Sahib via Jaga Bridge. It is estimated that due to night time, there was a visionary and suddenly the driver lost control, due to deteriorating control, she fell directly into the canal. According to eyewitnesses, soon after this accident, people shouted and the villagers started trying to rescue by jumping into the water. Many devotees were swept away in the water, while some have been safely taken out.
Police team at the scene, rescue operation continues
On hearing the news of the accident, the police team reached the spot, after which the rescue operation is going on at a war footing. The police administration has intensified the search for missing people with the help of divers. The injured devotees have been immediately admitted to a nearby hospital, where the condition of some remains critical.
Due to the darkness and flow of the night, there was also difficulty in relief work, but the rescue team was continuously engaged in effort. At the same time, as soon as morning, people are being searched by depositing details of people.
The administration has appealed to the public not to crowd the scene so that the relief work does not be interrupted. The investigation of the cause of the accident has been started and information of the vehicle and the driver’s information is also being collected.
