While investigating the shirtless demonstration that took place in Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Delhi Police has termed it as a conspiracy. ACP Devesh Kumar Mahala has said that the protesters had come prepared by making QR codes in advance and entered inside by hiding the T-shirt under the sweater-jacket.

ACP Mahala told the media, ‘These people had obtained the QR code by registering online. He took entry by scanning the QR code. Were wearing sweater and jacket, due to which nothing could be seen from outside. Reaching the lobby of Hall No. 5, they took off sweaters and shirts, demonstrated by waving T-shirts and raised slogans.
ACP Mahala further said, ‘Four people have been detained. The rest are being identified. We will take strong legal action. Mahala stressed that if some people come together and do such an act then it is not possible without pre-planning. The police is thoroughly investigating from this angle how this demonstration was planned and how many people were involved in it.
There was chaos among delegates and guests
The incident occurred around 12:30 pm, when IYC workers reached Exhibition Hall No. 5. They showed slogans written on T-shirts against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the India-US trade deal, such as ‘India-US Trade Deal’, ‘Epstein Files’ and ‘PM is compromised’. The protesters created a ruckus by taking off their shirts, causing chaos among the delegates and guests present there.
The police immediately took the protesters out and detained them. Initial reports say that 4 to 10 people have been detained. Delhi Police said that the T-shirts of the protesters were objectionable, hence appropriate legal action has been initiated against them. FIR has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
