Congress MLA Hemant Katare has resigned from the post of Deputy Leader of Opposition on Friday (February 20). He is MLA from Ater seat. His resignation has created a stir in MP Congress. MP Congress said in a statement that Katare has submitted his resignation to Congress Party National President Mallikarjun Kharge, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President Tu Patwari and Leader of Opposition Umang Singar.

Why did you resign?

Giving information in this regard, Organization General Secretary Dr. Sanjay Kamle said that Hemant Katare has mentioned family responsibilities and lack of time in his resignation. He has clarified that in the present circumstances he was not able to give required time and attention to his assembly constituency, that is why he has resigned from the post of Deputy Leader of Opposition.

He was, is and will remain with Congress – Kamle

Kamle also clarified that this resignation of Hemant Katare is related only to the post and not to the membership of the party. He was with the Congress Party, is there and will remain with the party with full devotion in future also.

Final decision depends on leadership – Kamle

Along with this, he said that the final decision whether to accept the resignation of Hemant Katare from the post of Deputy Leader of Opposition or not depends on the discretion of State Congress President Tu Patwari and the top leadership of the party.

Today is Katare’s wedding anniversary.

Today is also the wedding anniversary of Hemant Katare. He resigned today itself. His supporters are congratulating him on his anniversary. In 2018, Hemant Katare was accused of rape. Later the victim changed her statement. In 2019, the student committed suicide. In December 2024, the High Court gave relief to Hemant Katare. The Madhya Pradesh government reached the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court.
