Ban on illegal broadcasting
According to Indian Express, Justice Senthilkumar Ramamurthy has given this interim order on two applications of the film’s producer Sunshine Pictures Limited. The makers feared copyright infringement before the release of The Kerala Story 2. Unless illegal broadcasting is stopped immediately, it has been observed that in these cases the loss is so much that it cannot be compensated.
The court said, ‘If such a loss occurs in a case like this, it cannot be rectified. It is important to stop illegal broadcasting at its very beginning. However, since the order is comprehensive, it is possible that the business of some innocent companies or people may be affected. That is why if there is any loss, the makers will have to give assurance of compensation. Meanwhile, the court imposed an interim stay till March 23. That means no one can do illegal broadcasting of the film till March 23. Those against whom there are cases will have to file their reply by March 23. Private notice is also allowed. Makers have to follow CPC Order XXXIX Rule 3.
