Pawar family is once again in the headlines in Maharashtra politics. A decision taken regarding the post of Deputy Chief Minister is now raising questions within both the family and the party. According to sources, the decision to make Sunetra Pawar the next Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra was taken only by the leaders of NCP (Ajit Pawar faction), while no consultation was done with the Pawar family on this.
Sources associated with the family say that before taking such a big political decision, it was necessary to take the family into confidence, but this did not happen. This is the reason why internal resentment is coming to the fore. The family clearly says that they were neither given prior information about this decision nor was any opinion taken from them.
Controversy emerged before the legislative party meeting
This entire controversy has come to light just before the important meeting of the legislature party to be held on Saturday (January 31). It is believed that Sunetra Pawar’s name may be officially approved in this meeting. This sudden development has created a stir in the political circles.
Left for Mumbai without meeting Sharad Pawar
According to sources, Sunetra Pawar left for Mumbai from Pune without meeting Sharad Pawar. This is being seen as a sign of continuing distance within the Pawar family. This also makes it clear that everything is not normal in the family right now.
Sources claim that no consultation was done with the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) faction on the decision to include Sunetra Pawar in the cabinet. Even Sharad Pawar’s family members were not aware of this step.
Situation changed after Ajit Pawar’s death
It is being told that after the death of Ajit Pawar, discussions about the possible merger of the two NCP factions had definitely intensified, but Sunetra’s decision to become the Deputy Chief Minister is not being linked to this. The situation became more sensitive after the plane crash in Baramati on Wednesday.
Possibility of becoming the first woman Deputy Chief Minister
Sunetra Pawar is currently not a member of any house of the Maharashtra Legislature. He is likely to be elected the leader of the NCP legislature party on Saturday, after which the way for the swearing-in ceremony may be cleared. If this happens, she can become the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of the state, but before this achievement, the controversy within the family and the party is making her path more challenging.
