Maharashtra ats news: A 27 -year -old Indian youth has been arrested on the basis of secret information received by Maharashtra ATS, who was allegedly in contact with Pakistan’s intelligence agency Pakistan Intelligence Operative (Pio) and he shared information related to the defect list of a warship which is a sensitive and confidential information banned by the Government of India.
The name of the arrested accused is Ravindra Muralidhar Verma, who is a resident of Kalwa area of Thane. He is a mechanical engineer. According to Maharashtra ATS, during investigation, it was found that Verma came in contact with a Pakistani intelligence agent through Facebook in November 2021. After this, between November 2021 and May 2023, he sent information related to the Defect list of the Warship which is confidential and sensitive regional information through WhatsApp.
Case registered against accused Verma and 2 others
The ATS has registered a case against Verma and two other people in contact with him. Thane ATS unit has registered a case against all of them under Section 3 (1) (a), 5 (1) and Section 61 (2) of the Indian Code.
Share information related to the defect list of Warship
Sources said that Verma used to work for the Chrisne Defense Technology Limited Company and the Naval Dock used to support some warships related to this company. Verma also had a pass to go to the prohibited (restricted) area, with the help of which he could also go there. Sources said that Verma had a defect list of some warships from which he shared the information related to it, besides Verma also gave sensitive information related to the Waraship to the PIO.
Accused in ATS custody till 2 June
In this case, ATS is extracting Verma’s electronic gadget and its chats to gather complete information about what kind of information he has given to the operatives of Pio. Verma was produced in court on Thursday (May 29), where ATS has been sent to custody till Monday.
