Ajit pawar dispute: There has been a political uproar in Maharashtra once again. This time the reason has become Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. BJP MLA and minister has reached Union Home Minister Amit Shah with a complaint against Maharashtra Deputy CM and NCP chief Ajit Pawar. It has been alleged that Ajit Pawar is supporting opponents of BJP leaders and officials.
Actually, Amit Shah was on a tour of Maharashtra from 25 to 27 May. Now BJP ministers and MLAs claim that Ajit Pawar is strengthening the candidates who defeated BJP in the 2024 election. This may weaken the party’s position in the upcoming local body elections.
This once again indicates that tension is increasing inside Mahayuti. The tension between BJP and Ajit Pawar’s NCP in Western Maharashtra and Marathwada is particularly clear, where both parties have a strong presence. In the 2024 assembly elections, BJP won 28 out of 70 seats in western Maharashtra, while NCP won 15 seats. Similarly, in Marathwada, BJP won 19 out of 46 seats and NCP won 8 seats.
BJP leaders are concerned that Ajit Pawar’s NCP is targeting local self-government bodies occupied by Pune, Sangli and Pimpri-Chinchwad in western Maharashtra and Parbhani, Jalna and Beed in Marathwada. This has increased dissatisfaction among BJP MLAs and ministers and some guess that the party can contest the upcoming local body elections independently.
Party leaders reactions
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray Group) MLA Sachin Ahir: “Not only BJP MLA, but the entire cabinet is unhappy with Ajit Pawar. They are not getting funds, and their work is not being done. We have fought against him throughout our life, and now we have to sit with him.”
NCP (Sharad Pawar Group) MLA Rohit Pawar: “Perhaps BJP leaders want to bring their dissatisfaction into discussion with Ajit Pawar so that they can increase this dispute and the upcoming local body elections can contest their strength.”
Effect on Mahayuti alliance:
Due to the increasing dissatisfaction within the Mahayuti alliance, every party can contest the upcoming local body elections independently. BJP’s possible strategy can be dissatisfied with its allies and efforts to strengthen their vote bank.
