A massive fire broke out in a loom factory in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra due to a cylinder explosion, in which the cylinder blasted while extinguishing the fire and a fireman was injured. This incident took place in the early hours today in Siddharth Nagar area of Khoni village near Bhiwandi city of Maharashtra.
How did the fire break out in Bhiwandi and how much damage was caused?
A fire suddenly broke out in the loom factory located in Siddharth Nagar and within no time it took a huge form. The entire loom factory was gutted in the fire, while three other loom factories located nearby were also burnt down. A large stock of looms, machinery and clothes kept in the factory was completely destroyed. According to preliminary information, no one died in this fire, but the economic loss is said to be huge.

Cylinder blast and firefighter injured
While extinguishing the fire, a big cylinder kept in the factory suddenly exploded, causing chaos on the spot. Firefighter Kantilal Gujar got injured in this cylinder blast. He was immediately admitted to Bhiwandi Upazila Hospital for treatment, where his condition is said to be stable. Two fire brigade vehicles reached the spot as soon as the information was received and efforts were made to control the fire on a war footing. Due to the blast, the work of extinguishing the fire became more challenging for some time.

Stories and investigation of local people
Local people present at the time of the incident said that at around 5.30 in the morning they suddenly saw flames rising. According to a local resident in a statement given to IANS, fire was seen as soon as the window was opened, after which everyone ran downstairs. Initially the ambulance did not reach the spot and after about 20 to 25 minutes the ambulance came. People told that the first blast occurred around 5.15, while at around 6 o’clock two more loud explosions were heard. He says that a major accident could have happened at that time. At present, the exact cause of the fire is being investigated and the administration has indicated to review the safety standards.
