Maharashtra’s Home (City) Minister of State and Shiv Sena leader Yogesh Kadam reacted sharply to the allegations of MLC Anil Parab of Shiv Sena (UBT). Yogesh Kadam said that his family has nothing to do with any dance bar and the allegations made by the parab are ‘baseless and inspired by politics’. The minister has also warned to bring a proposal for a privilege breach of privilege in the Legislative Council regarding this entire matter.
Allegations told baseless
Yogesh Kadam denied the allegation of Anil Parab stating that a Dance Bar of Mumbai is in the name of the minister’s mother. Kadam clarified, “Any member of my family has nothing to do with the ownership of any dance bar. This is a completely false and malicious allegation.” He also said that whatever illegal activities are done in the dance bar, it is only the responsibility of the bar owner and not someone else.
Questions raised about action on dance bars
Minister Kadam insisted that he has directed the police commissioners of other urban areas including Navi Mumbai to take strict action on dance bars. He said that “If I had any vested interest, I would not allow such actions. The action on my instructions shows that I do not support any illegal activity.”
Kadam also alleged that Anil Parab is trying to derail these actions. He raised the question that “Do we do not want to take action on illegal dance bars?”
Preparation of privilege breach proposal
Yogesh Kadam said that he would give notice notice to the Chairman of the Legislative Council in this matter and demand the removal of Parab’s statement from the proceedings of the House.
He said that “According to Rule 35, it is necessary to give prior information to any member before making allegations against a minister. Parab neither did so nor accuses me of my presence in the House. It is not only a violation of the rules, but also against the dignity of Parliament.”
