The Maharashtra government’s ‘Larki Bahin Yojana’, which was to provide financial assistance of Rs 1500 to weak women every month, has now come into the discussion due to a fraud.

Investigations have revealed that about 14,298 men took advantage of the scheme with the help of fake documents, causing a loss of about Rs 21.44 crore to the government exchequer. Let me tell you, this scheme was started in August 2024.

Why did the entire system fail to monitor?

During the audit of this scheme, it was revealed that many men registered for the scheme by calling themselves women through fake Aadhaar or documents and were taking economic benefits every month.

This series continued until the plan was investigated in depth. After this disclosure, the question has started to arise in the minds of the people as to how the investigation process of the application remained so weak and failed to monitor the entire system.

Even before, there was talk of raising money in the name of unqualified people

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar clearly said that the men who have taken fake benefits will be charged and if they do not cooperate, then legal action will be taken.

Also, some such women were also in the list of beneficiaries, who are in government jobs and were not eligible according to the conditions of the scheme; His names have already been removed. Earlier in Maharashtra, there was talk of raising money in the name of unqualified people in schemes like sanitary napkin subsidy and Shiva food plate.
