Pollution is increasing in Maharashtra these days. The government is going to take big steps to prevent the level of declining air pollution continuously. Soon vehicles with no legitimate PUC (pollution under control) will not be given fuel at all petrol pumps in the state.

This rule will be applicable in the entire state including Mumbai. Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that its purpose is to reduce pollution and stop the problem of fake PUC certificate.

Why was this campaign started?

Air pollution in Mumbai and other cities of Maharashtra has reached dangerous levels. Due to smog and poisonous gases, people are having trouble breathing. The government has taken this step to give a clean environment to future generations.

The government clarified that the ‘No PUC, No Fuel’ campaign will start in a few months. Under this, vehicle owners will have to maintain the validity of their pollution certificate.

How will the rule apply?

Vehicles coming to every petrol pump will be tested with CCTV cameras. If the PUC certificate is found illegal or terminated, fuel will not be given. According to PTI, arrangements will be made to issue certificates at the petrol pump itself for convenience.

Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik said that this will not cause inconvenience to the drivers. PUC will be issued after pollution tests on the spot, so that the driver can immediately fill the fuel. This initiative will also eliminate pollution control as well as the trend of fake PUC certificates.

The government believes that the current generation will have to impose some environmental restrictions on themselves to create a pollution -free environment. Through this initiative, Maharashtra will set a new example in the field of pollution control and road safety. Experts say that this campaign will improve the air quality and people will get relief from diseases caused by pollution.
