A heart-wrenching accident took place in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra when the pickup vehicle of devotees returning from Astamba Yatra overturned at Chandsaili Ghat. It is being told that the driver lost control of the vehicle at the turn of the ghat, due to which the vehicle fell into a deep ditch. According to the information, in this tragic accident, 6 devotees died on the spot, while more than 10 people were seriously injured.
The people present at the incident site immediately admitted the injured to Taloda Sub-District Hospital, where the condition of many is said to be critical. As soon as information about the incident was received, police and local administration teams reached the spot and rescue operations were started. According to eyewitnesses, there were more people in the vehicle than its capacity. This incident has created a wave of mourning in rural areas.
Accident happened while returning from trip
According to the information, all the devotees were returning to their village after completing the Astamba Yatra. This yatra is considered to be linked to religious faith in the region and thousands of people participate in it every year. It is being told that the driver lost control of the vehicle at the turn in the ghat area, due to which the pickup overturned. The accident was so horrific that many people in the car got buried under and died on the spot.
Chaos at the scene
Eyewitnesses said that there was screaming after the accident. Many devotees were trapped under the vehicle, and the local people had to make a lot of efforts to free them. The police team and local villagers together carried out the rescue operation. The injured were immediately taken to Taloda Sub-District Hospital with the help of ambulance. The seriously injured devotees have been referred to the district hospital for better treatment.
Police started identification of the dead
Police reached the spot and started investigating the cause of the accident. According to initial estimates, the vehicle was at high speed and the driver lost control at the turn of the ghat. The dead are being identified, while the police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. This incident has spread a wave of mourning in the entire area.
