A case has been registered against Nationalist Congress Party (SP) leader and MLA Rohit Pawar at Mumbai’s South Zone Cyber Police Station on charges of making fake Aadhaar card. The police action began when Pawar publicly admitted that he had made a fake Aadhaar card of US President Donald Trump. This incident is not only legally serious but is also considered a matter related to national security.
What is the matter?
Rohit Pawar had claimed in a press conference that he prepared Donald Trump’s Aadhaar card with the help of fake documents. According to Pawar, he took this step to show how many flaws there are in the identity verification system in the country. But legal experts say that making fake documents of any person is clearly a criminal act. Officials believe that such statements can harm public order and trust.
BJP leader’s complaint
After this incident, BJP official Dhananjay Wagskar lodged a formal complaint against Pawar. Vagaskar says that Rohit Pawar has done the work of disturbing public peace and spreading confusion among the people. Based on his complaint, Mumbai Cyber Police has registered a case against the website creator, user and owner including Pawar. According to the investigating agencies, this act is considered to endanger social security.
Under which sections the case was registered
Police have imposed many serious sections in this case. The case has been registered under sections 336(2), 336(3), 336(4), 337, 353(1)(B), 353(1)(C), 353(2) of BNS and section 66(C) of the IT Act. There is a provision for both punishment and fine under these sections. The investigating officers are also looking into this entire episode to see if any political or digital network has played a role in making fake Aadhaar cards. Police say that forensic investigation of digital evidence is going on and further action will be taken soon.
