Mahashivratri 2026: Flood of faith gathered in Baba Baidyanath Dham on Mahashivratri, Shiva procession is organized at night.

Today Mahashiratri is celebrated across the country. On this occasion, a huge crowd of devotees has gathered at the Jyotirlinga Shri Baba Baidyanath temple located in Deoghar, Jharkhand. On the holy Chaturdashi date, lakhs of devotees gathered for the divine marriage celebration of Baba Baidyanath and Mata Parvati. Worship has been organized throughout the day and a grand Shiva procession has been organized at night.

Long queues were seen at Baba Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar since morning. Devotees received the blessings of Lord Shiva by performing Jalabhishek, offering Belpatra and Rudrabhishek. The temple complex echoed with the chants of Har Har Mahadev and tight security arrangements have been made.

Shiv procession will be taken out at night – priest

A priest of the temple told that Mahashivratri is the holy day of Chaturdashi and on this date the auspicious marriage of Baba Baidyanath and Mata Parvati took place. A grand tableau and Shiva procession is taken out at night, in which lakhs of devotees participate.

Drums, horse, serpent dance and traditional tableaus were the center of attraction in the night Shiva procession. Devotees dressed up as Bhoot-Betal and participated in the procession and a festive atmosphere was visible in the entire Dham area. The priest said that Baba Baidyanath is famous as Manokamna Linga. Any devotee who comes here with a true heart and his wish is fulfilled. Because of this faith, devotees from all over the country reach Deoghar.

Importance of Jyotirlinga and Shaktipeeth

The priest told that Baba Baidyanath Dham is not only a Jyotirlinga but is also considered a Shaktipeeth. Here Mother Parvati is seated in the form of Shakti, due to which the devotees get the blessings of both Shiva and Shakti. For this reason it has special religious importance.

In a statement given to IANS, he said that the special importance of offering Belpatra on Mahashivratri has been explained. It is believed that offering Belpatra with three leaves to Shiva destroys the sins of many births. Devotees believe that Baba Baidyanath is the king of the universe and fulfills the wishes of the entire world.
