The nomination process for the first phase of Bihar assembly elections has been completed. Meanwhile, the property details of the youngest BJP candidate, folk singer Maithili Thakur, have come to light. According to the election affidavit, Maithili Thakur is the owner of property worth crores.
In the affidavit filed by Maithili Thakur, BJP candidate from Alinagar Assembly seat, along with her nomination, she has declared her total movable assets as Rs 2,32,33,255. He also has Rs 1.80 lakh in cash, vehicles worth more than Rs 2 crore and expensive jewellery. Apart from this, he has self-acquired property worth Rs 47 lakh, whose current market value is said to be Rs 1.5 crore.
Maithili’s income and tax details
According to the affidavit, Maithili Thakur has been filing income tax returns regularly. In the financial year 2023-24, he has declared an income of Rs 28,67,350, whereas in 2022-23 his income was Rs 16,98,840. Earlier the income was shown at Rs 15,93,730 in 2021-22, Rs 11,15,150 in 2020-21 and Rs 12,02,960 in 2019-20. It has also been said in this oath that his sources of income are singing, social media and brand endorsement.
Educational Qualification and Family Background
Maithili Thakur’s highest educational qualification is B.A. Programme, which he has completed from Bharti College, Delhi University. She was born on 25 July 2000 and she is currently 25 years old. Maithili, originally a resident of Uren village of Benipatti police station area of Madhubani district of Bihar, was interested in music since childhood.
Her father Ramesh Thakur himself is a music teacher and it was he who gave initial education in music to Maithili. His mother Pooja Thakur is a housewife, while his two brothers Rishabh Thakur and Ayachi Thakur are also active in music. The family went through a period of financial struggle in Delhi and took Maithili to the stage.

Maithili Thakur has earned recognition not only in Bihar but in the entire country with her melodious voice and folk songs. A total of 13 candidates have filed nomination from Alinagar assembly constituency. Apart from Maithili Thakur from BJP, Vinod Mishra from RJD, Viplav Chaudhary from Jan Suraj, Rajipal Jha from Aam Aadmi Party and many independent candidates have also filed their nominations. Maithili Thakur’s entry into politics has brought this seat into a lot of discussion.
