Rare twin anomaly: There have been many such cases in medical history around the world, which doctors are also stunned. One of these cases is of Sanju Bhagat of Nagpur, which people know as “Pregnant Man”. Actually, Sanju Bhagat had a very rare medical condition Fetus in Fetu (FIF), which made his stomach big as a pregnant woman.
What is Fetus in Fetu (FIF)?
Fetus in Fetu is a very rare congenital condition. This occurs when the development of one of the twins stops during pregnancy and that incomplete embryo gets trapped inside the body of another fetus. The developing fetus keeps that “inclined fetus” inside its body. In medical language, it is called the fetus being trapped inside the fetus.
This is not a real pregnancy. Rather it is an anomaly, in which the remains of the fetus develops like a tumor inside the body. So far, less than 100 cases have been registered in the whole world.
Why are men called “pregnant”?
Usually this situation has been seen more in men. When a male has this embryo involved in his body, his stomach increases abnormally. On seeing from outside, the stomach looks like a pregnant woman. That is why people jokingly call him “pregnant man”. However, it is not a real pregnancy scientifically.
How does you know?
Fetus in Fetu often detects late as early symptoms seem normal. The patient can ignore it as obesity, digestive problem or any other disease for a long time.
Symptoms
- Abnormal
- Breathing shortness (Bulge presses diaphragm)
- Abdominal pain and heaviness
- Paid or constipation problem
Diagnosis (diagnosis)
- Initially it looks like tumor or cancer.
- The X-Ray, CT scan and MRI reveals structures like bones, limbs or hair inside.
- On surgery, it is clear that fetal -like tissue is present inside the body.
Sanju Bhagat’s case
Sanju Bhagat lived with big stomach for about 30 years. People used to tease him by saying “pregnant man”. In 1999, when his stomach increased so much that it became difficult to breathe, the doctors performed the operation. Initially, doctors felt that it was a cancerous tumor. But during the operation, bones, hair, limbs and incomplete genitals came out from inside. The doctors were also stunned to see this. It is counted in the world’s rarest and shocking medical case.
Is this a real pregnancy?
No. According to medical science, FIF cannot be considered conception. In this, the remains of the fetus are stuck in the body of the living fetus. Like real pregnancy, the fetus does not develop in it. Therefore it is called anomaly, not pregnancy. “Fetus in Fetu” is a very rare medical condition in which one fetus is stuck inside the other fetus. When this condition occurs in men, their stomach increases abnormally and people start calling them “pregnant man”. But scientifically, it is not a pregnancy, but a rare problem.
