Malegaon News: Controversy over offering Namaz in Malegaon Municipal Corporation office, case registered against 7 people

Controversy came to light in Malegaon regarding employees offering Namaz in the Municipal Corporation office. This matter has now gained momentum. Seeing the matter heating up, the police has taken strict action. It is alleged that about 7 people including Nukman Salim offered Namaz at the said place, on which objection was raised.

Malegaon police has registered a case against the concerned people. According to the police, allegations of assault on government officials and obstructing their work are also being investigated. Further legal action is underway in the matter.

Case registered regarding ruckus during namaz

A case of creating ruckus and disrupting government work by entering the Electricity Department office of Malegaon Municipal Corporation has come to light. In this regard, Mahendra Raghunath Sawant (age 43 years), wireman, resident of Krushi Nagar, Kalpataru Park, Malegaon has lodged a complaint in the police station.

According to the complaint, Sawant has been working as a wireman in the electricity department of Malegaon Municipal Corporation for the last nine years. On 23 February 2026, at around 4 pm, he was present on duty in the office along with his colleagues Sandeep Kalunkhe, Pawan Kedare (wireman), Mohan Devre (shipman) and Santosh Mahale (water supply department).

What did the wireman tell in the electricity department?

The wireman in the electricity department of the Municipal Corporation told that during this time, persons named Lukman and Salim Ekka reached the office along with 4-5 of their companions. Lukman demanded to show the accounts and register of street lights.

On this, Sawant said that the concerned lights have been taken by the electrical inspector to be installed in the ward as per requirement and only he can give the information about it. After this they left from there.

Accused Lukman reached office again

According to the complaint, at around 5 pm, Lukman again reached the office with his colleagues and said that it was time for Namaz and they would offer Namaz inside the office and would also take the street light with them. It is alleged that he threw the chairs kept in the cabin of the Electrical Superintendent. A chair hit Sawant’s leg.

Despite the employees trying to explain, the accused did not listen to them. It has been said in the complaint that a person while recording video from mobile, threatened and created obstruction in government work by pushing and shoving.

Wireman lodged complaint in electricity department

After informing the Municipal Corporation Commissioner about the incident, Sawant has filed a legal complaint with the police against the concerned persons. He told that he does not need medical examination. Police have started further investigation in the matter.
