During a meeting with the newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents of Haryana and Madhya Pradesh at Indira Bhavan, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge attacked the Center on Sunday (August 24, 2025). He alleged that after ‘vote theft’, the BJP is now trying to ‘theft’ through new Bills for the purpose of demolishing opposition governments within 30 days.

He said that from the bill that the government has brought, they will take away the rights of citizens to form or remove their elected government. This right will be given to agencies like ED and CBI. Kharge alleged, “It is like running a bulldozer on democracy.”

Kharge attack over Mahadevpura ‘vote theft’

The Congress president further said that Rahul Gandhi recently presented detailed information during a address of how the alleged votes were allegedly ‘stolen’ under a well -planned conspiracy in Mahadevpura constituency of Karnataka. He said, ‘Congress came to know all this in 6 months of search.’

Commenting towards the monsoon session, he said that the opposition wanted Parliament to go on and debate on major public issues, but the BJP government kept on discussing matters like special intensive revision (SIR) and alleged ‘vote theft’ of the voter list. Accusing the BJP, Kharge said that the government wants the opposition’s votes to be taken away by using SIR.

Congress workers request Kharge

The Congress president accused the BJP of using the SIR of voter lists to reduce opposition votes and urged the party workers to keep a close watch on the voter lists, so that the BJP could not conspire to remove the names of Congress supporters at the booth level.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, Mallikarjun Kharge said that millions of people are busy protesting against the alleged voter manipulation, but PM Modi is talking about intruders to mislead people.

Explain that Union Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a bill in Parliament on Wednesday, in which it has been proposed that the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and Minister, who are jailed for 30 consecutive days, will have to resign from the post on the 31st day on the 31st day.
