Mamta Banerjee made serious allegations against the Election Commission, said- situation like undeclared emergency

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made a scathing attack on the action of the Election Commission. He alleged that the Election Commission is taking unprecedented and worrying steps targeting West Bengal.

Mamata Banerjee said through a post on the social media platform He called it not administrative action but high level political interference.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alleged that impartial institutions are being politicized, which is a direct attack on the Constitution. On one hand, the flawed SIR process is going on and more than 200 people have lost their lives so far, while on the other hand, the attitude of the Commission appears to be biased. Till now the supplementary voter list has not been released, which is ignoring the instructions of the Supreme Court. Due to this, there is an atmosphere of anxiety and confusion among the common citizens.

Mamata Banerjee alleged that senior officers of important departments like IB, STF and CID are being selectively removed and sent out of the state, due to which an attempt is being made to weaken the administrative structure.

He also targeted BJP and raised the question as to why BJP is so restless and why Bengal is being targeted again and again. He said that even after 78 years of independence, it is very unfortunate that people have to stand in queues to prove their citizenship.

The Chief Minister also mentioned the contradiction in the decisions of the Election Commission. He said that on one hand the Commission says that the removed officers will not be put on election duty, while on the other hand within a few hours they are made election observers and sent out.

He also raised questions over appointing the police commissioners of Siliguri and Bidhannagar as observers without giving them any option, due to which these two important cities were left without leadership for some time. However, this mistake was later rectified. Mamata Banerjee termed it anarchy, confusion and inefficiency and said that all this is part of a well-planned conspiracy, the aim of which is to control Bengal through institutions.

He described it as ‘undeclared emergency’ and ‘President’s rule like situation’. Also said that BJP has failed to win the trust of the people, hence now it wants to gain power through pressure, fear and misuse of institutions. The Chief Minister expressed solidarity with the state officials and their families and said that Bengal will never bow down to fear. He clearly said, ‘Bengal will fight, protest and foil every conspiracy.’
