Iran hanged a man on Saturday (October 18, 2025) on charges of spying for Israel. Iran’s Mizan News Agency, quoting an Iranian prosecutor, gave this information on Sunday (October 19, 2025). It was told that the accused had connections with Israeli intelligence agency Mossad and he had leaked confidential information of Iran.
Amidst the decades-long shadow war with Israel, Iran has so far executed many people who were accused of having links with Mossad and helping in its operations inside the country.
The person identified as Bahman Chobi-Asal
According to The Times of Israel, Mizan News Agency said that Iran hanged a man named Bahman Chobi-Asl. The judiciary declared him one of Israel’s most important spies in Iran.
According to a Times of India report, Bahman Chobi-Asl’s case had neither been previously reported in the Iranian media nor was it known to activists who monitor the death penalty in the Islamic country. However, this execution took place at a time when Iran had vowed to deal with its enemies after the United Nations (UN) reimposed sanctions on Tehran over its nuclear program.
According to the report, Iran accused Chobi-Asl of meeting with Mossad officials. Tehran often accuses its citizens of spying for Israel, but usually does not make public any concrete evidence in these cases.
Mossad’s aim was to access the database of Iran’s government institutions
According to the report, Mizan said, ‘Bahman Chobi-Asal worked on sensitive telecommunication projects and had shared information related to the import routes of electronic equipment. The main objective of Mossad behind the cooperation of this accused was to gain access to the databases of government institutions and to break into the data centers of Iran. Apart from this, if we talk about the secondary objectives of Mossad, it included investigating the routes of import of electronic equipment.
