In Vasai-Virar in Maharashtra, a big accident took place late in the night between Tuesday-Wednesday (August 27-28). Here a four -male building collapsed near Ganpati temple in Vijay Nagar Virar East, in which two people have died, while 9 have been rescued and sent to the hospital.
Late at around 1.00 pm, 15 to 20 people are still feared to be buried under a four-storey building named Ramabai apartment. This number can be even more.
A part of the fourth floor of the four -storey building called Ramabai Apartments in Swami Samarth Nagar, Ramu Compound, Orange Phata, Virar has collapsed. No casualties have been reported yet. However, the police have so far saved 9 people and taken to the hospital.
Search operation continues
A team of NDR has reached the spot and the search operation is going on. It is feared that 15 to 20 citizens are still stranded in the debris of the building.
The building was built 10 years ago
The building was built ten years ago and the Municipal Corporation declared it a very dangerous building. Ramabai apartment has now been demolished.
MLA Sneha Pandit Dubey has informed that this accident has happened due to falling 10-15 years old building in Virar’s orange. So far 9 people have been rescued. About 20 more people are feared trapped. The entire NDRF team, Mahanagar municipality and police teams are engaged in rescue operations.
Rescue is difficult due to being narrow street
According to the information received by the MLA, there is a situation in the place where the accident happened that neither the car nor an ambulance is going to go for the rescue on the spot. The rescue team has no help without any help, the rescue operation has to be carried out by hand. So it is taking time. Teams are giving their 100 percent. Currently, another team of NDRF along with 20-25 more soldiers has been called.
JCB machine will be needed to remove people trapped in debris, but it is difficult to reach JCB there, due to which NDRF is facing difficulty.
