Map of Delhi will change! Now there will be 13 districts instead of 11, number of SDM offices will also increase

The government is going to do a major restructuring to make the administrative system in Delhi simple, fast and people-friendly. Under this change, the existing 11 revenue districts in Delhi will be increased to 13.

Besides, the number of sub-divisions (SDM offices) will also be increased from 33 to 39. The government believes that the new structure will provide faster service to the public and the visits to government offices will be significantly reduced.

Cabinet gave in-principle approval

According to government sources, the Delhi Cabinet has given in-principle approval to this proposal. Now this proposal will be sent to the Lieutenant Governor. As soon as LG’s permission is given, the new district wise system will be implemented in Delhi. The government plans to create a mini secretariat in every district, where work related to all departments except law and order can be completed in one premises. With this, common people will not have to wander in many offices.

How will the map of Delhi change?

New boundaries of the districts have been proposed on the basis of 11 zones of the Municipal Corporation. According to the change, the name of Sadar Zone will be changed to Old Delhi District. In the trans-Yamuna area, Eastern and North-Eastern districts will be abolished and two new districts Shahdara North and Shahdara South will be created. The existing northern district will be divided into two parts, Civil Lines and Old Delhi. A large part of the South-West district will be included in the new Najafgarh district.

2. Central Delhi – Defense Colony, Kalkaji
3. New Delhi – New Delhi, Delhi Cantt.
4. Civil Lines – Alipore, Adarsh ​​Nagar, Badli
5. Karol Bagh – Moti Nagar, Karol Bagh
6. Keshav Puram – Shalimar Bagh, Shakur Basti, Model Town
7. Narela – Narela, Mundka, Bawana
8. Najafgarh – Dwarka, Bijwasan-Vasant Vihar, Kapashera, Najafgarh
9. Rohini – Rohini, Mangolpuri, Kirari
10. Shahdara South – Gandhi Nagar, Vishwas Nagar, Kondli
11. Shahdara North – Karawal Nagar, Seemapuri, Seelampur, Shahdara
12. South District – Mehrauli, Malviya Nagar, Deoli, RK Puram
13. West District – Vikaspuri, Janakpuri, Madipur

A large population of Delhi visits various offices every day for government work. Many times, both time and money are wasted in going from one department to another. The government believes that by increasing the number of districts and sub-divisions, services will be available closer to the people’s homes. Along with this, disposal of files will be faster, crowding in offices will be reduced and there will be transparency in administrative processes. Experts say that this reorganization is the need of the hour in view of the rapidly increasing population of Delhi. With the new districting, the city administration will become more modern, efficient and easy.
