Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde clearly stated clearly that the process of giving a certificate of Kunbi caste to the eligible people of the Maratha community has only been simplified and there is no question of any new reservation decision. He said that the OBC class will not suffer any kind of damage from this mandate (GR). This statement has come amid the displeasure and controversy of OBC leaders.
Controversy over GR and resentment of Bhujbal
Minister of State Chhagan Bhujbal had called a meeting of OBC leaders, objecting to GR. He argued that this step could affect the rights of the OBC community. On this, Shinde made it clear that Bhujbal has already been assured that the mandate will not affect the interests of the OBC and his reservation quota. The government has simplified only the process of distribution of certificates.

Under the provisions of Hyderabad Gazetteer, eligible members of the Maratha community have been allowed to apply for the Kunbi certificate. On this issue, Vikhe Patil, the head of the sub-committee of the state cabinet, spoke to the Maratha agitator Manoj Jarange. After this, Jarang finished the fasting movement in Mumbai on 2 September. Shinde said that since 2012 there is a provision to issue a clan certificate, the government has simplified the process of implementing it only.

During the visit to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Shinde while addressing Shiv Sena workers and MLAs said that there will be no cut in the rights of the OBC class. He reiterated, “We have not taken any new decision, only the process has been easier.” The Maratha families who have historical records will be given kunbi certificates. ”After Shinde’s statement, there has been an attempt to calm the increased discomfort between Maratha and OBC communities.
