How was Helen’s early life?
Beautiful Helen, who started the trend of item songs in Bollywood, was born on 21 November 1938 in Burma. His life was full of difficulties since childhood. The full name of the legendary actress is Helen Ann Richardson Khan. According to reports, his father was killed in the Second World War and he had to wander in many places to escape the Japanese occupation and finally his family reached Assam. In an interview given to Filmfare, she told that after many difficulties, the actress settled in Kolkata with her mother. 
Got a big break at the age of 19
After settling in Kolkata, his mother started working as a nurse. A family friend helped him get the job. He started his career as a group dancer in the films ‘Shabistan’ and ‘Awara’. But at the age of 19, Helen got her big break and she got huge popularity with the song ‘Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu’ from the film ‘Howrah Bridge’. After this, Helen ruled the box office from 60’s to 70’s.
Many difficulties faced in married life
Helen first married film director Prem Narayan Arora in 1957. She had to face a lot of sorrow after marrying a man 27 years older than her. After the divorce, popular writer Salim Khan supported her mentally, financially and emotionally. Salman Khan’s father helped him get work again and gradually both of them came closer to each other. Both of them married each other in 1981. Salim Khan’s first wife Sushila Charak i.e. Salma was deeply hurt by this.
