Shatrughan Sinha was married to Poonam Sinha and in his biography the actor has accepted that he also had an affair with Reena Roy. In his book, Shatrughan Sinha has also revealed an incident when his brother Ram called him to Reena’s house and ordered him to marry the actress. This happened when Dharmendra married Hema Malini without leaving his first wife Prakash Kaur. Seeing this, Shatrughan was also asked by his brother to marry Reena.
Brother had threatened Shatrughan Sinha
In 1983, Ram ordered his younger brother to marry Reena. At that time, Shatrughan’s wife Poonam Sinha was pregnant with twins, Luv and Kush. While disclosing this incident in his biography, Shatrughan told that his brother Ram had called him to Reena’s house and as soon as he reached there, he asked him to marry him directly, right then and there. Ram had made a promise to Reena. Shatrughan was surprised to see all this. Ram remained adamant and even threatened that if Shatrughan did not agree, he would reveal the relationship publicly.
Ram had also written a letter addressed to every member of the Sinha family and people close to Shatrughan in which he had given details of the actor’s entire relationship with Reena. He ended the letter with the line, “…and hence, he will have to marry Reena.” As soon as this letter reached Shatrughan Sinha’s secretary Pawan Kumar, he took immediate action. Although Shatrughan was shooting outside Mumbai, Pawan immediately informed him and as written in the biography, this intervention saved Shatrughan and Poonam’s marriage.
Reena Roy gave warning to Shatrughan Singa
According to reports, producer Pahlaj Nihalani had revealed that Reena had also warned Shatrughan Sinha to marry someone else within eight days. She had told Nihalani, “Tell your friend to make up his mind. If he answers me, I will do the next film with him. Otherwise, ‘No’. I have made up my mind that if he doesn’t marry me, I will get married in eight days.” According to sources on Reddit, Nihalani revealed that after the success of ‘Haathkadi’, he was excited to reunite Shatrughan, Reena and Sanjeev Kumar in the new film. However, Reena Roy refused to be a part of this project and rejected his offer.
