A cylinder blast took place in a three-storey building in Karachi, Pakistan, in which at least 16 people have died, while 14 people are said to be injured. Rescue officials said that there was a massive explosion on Wednesday on the first floor of the building in street number three of Soldier Bazaar, due to which a part of the building collapsed. So far, bodies of 16 people have been removed from the debris.
The explosion occurred due to gas leak
According to Shama TV, if the sources of the rescue team are to be believed, the explosion occurred on the first floor on Wednesday night. Due to this a part of the building collapsed. Giving information, DIG East, Dr. Farooq Lanjar said that initial information shows that the blast was caused due to gas leak. He said that there is fear that a body is still buried under the debris. Rescue operation is going on.
The DIG said that the real cause of the blast would be known only after chemical investigation. The incident will be investigated. He said that the concerned department will decide whether the building was legal or illegal, and after this is decided, action will be taken against those responsible.
10 year old innocent among those who died, rescue operation completed
Immediately after the incident, the rescue team started the search operation. Many people were pulled out from the debris. A 10 year old innocent girl is also among those who died. She has been identified by the name Nazia. Apart from these, a 60 year old man has been identified by the name of Mohammad Riyaz. According to rescue officials, bodies of three girls have been found from the debris. Their ages are 17 years, 18 years and 19 years. Apart from this, a 14 year old girl was rescued in an injured condition and referred to the hospital. Building search operation has been completed. The debris is being removed. Police reached the spot and tightened security.
