At least five people died in explosions at two different places in Iran on Saturday (January 31, 2026). At the same time, news of 14 other people getting injured has also come to light. Iranian news channel Tehran Times quoted the head of the city’s fire department as saying that an explosion occurred in a residential building in Iran’s southwestern city of Ahwaz on Saturday (January 31). Due to this explosion, four people died on the spot.
Meanwhile, regarding another incident, a local official told news agencies that one person died and 14 others were injured in an explosion that took place in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas on Saturday. In the explosion in Bandar Abbas, two floors of the building, many vehicles and shops were completely destroyed. However, the cause of this explosion has not been confirmed yet.
Israel refrained from blasts
Meanwhile, Israel has distanced itself from both the blasts in Iran. Two Israeli officials said that the Jewish country Israel is not involved in any way in the explosions in Iran.
Claims are being made that the Navy Commander is being targeted
At the same time, many types of claims have started being made on social media regarding the blasts in Iran. It is also being claimed that the naval commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been targeted. Which the semi-government news agency Tasneem has completely rejected, calling it false.
Investigation into the real cause of the explosion is ongoing
Iran’s official IRNA news agency quoted Mehrdad Hassanzadeh, Director General of Crisis Management of Hormozgan Province, as saying that the explosions in the country are being investigated to find out the real cause. He said that emergency rescue team personnel are taking the people injured in the incident to the hospital. However, he did not say anything about any death in the incident.
