A major railway accident was averted today near Sirhind railway station in Punjab. There was panic among the passengers due to sudden fire in Garib Rath Express going from Amritsar to Saharsa. The incident occurred when the train reached Sirhind station, half a kilometer ahead of Ambala. Seeing smoke rising from a compartment of the train, passengers immediately informed the railway personnel. The driver showed wisdom and immediately stopped the train, thereby averting a major accident.

The incident is said to have happened around 7:30 in the morning. According to railway officials, all the passengers are completely safe and there is no news of any casualty or injury. The cause of the fire is not yet clear, but technical fault or short circuit is being considered as the possible cause.

The train will leave soon for its destination

Officials said that after controlling the fire, the condition of the train is being inspected. After examining the damaged coach, the train will soon be sent towards its destination Saharsa. Railway Protection Force (RPF) and GRP teams have taken the entire area under security cover and all necessary facilities are being provided to the passengers.
