A fire broke out in several multi-storey buildings in Taipo, Hong Kong on Wednesday (26 November 2025) afternoon, in which at least 44 people are reported dead. It is being told that the fire has spread to 7 buildings. According to the police, three suspects have been arrested in this case. Local media quoted the Fire Services Department (FSD) as saying that many people were trapped in buildings due to the massive fire. The flames were seen from several kilometers away. FSD said they received a report of the fire at 2.51pm on Wednesday (26 November 2025) and declared the fire to be a No. 4 alarm fire (the second highest alarm in Hong Kong) at around 3.30pm. Fire extinguishing operation is going on. In the videos that surfaced, clouds of smoke kept coming out of the buildings. According to media reports, the fire spread on bamboo scaffolding outside the complex in the city’s Tai Po district. Tai Po is an area in the northern part of Hong Kong and is near the border of the main Chinese city Shenzhen.
