Maxwell ready to return in T20 series against India, know when the series will start

Australia’s charismatic all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is set to return for the T20 International series against India after recovering from a wrist fracture, while young fast bowler Mahali Beardman has also been selected in the squad.

After the current ODI series, the T20 series will start from October 29 in Canberra. For this five-match series, 37-year-old Maxwell and Beardman will be available for selection for the last three matches. Apart from this, fast bowler Josh Hazlewood and bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott will be available for the first two and three matches respectively.

Maxwell suffered a wrist fracture while bowling in the nets before Australia’s three-match T20 series in New Zealand in September.

Twenty-year-old Beardman has so far performed brilliantly in five List A matches and two Big Bash League matches, due to which he was successful in making a place in the team for this important series against India.

He was the star player of the team that won the Australian Under-19 World Cup in 2024. He took three wickets in the final. He also toured England with the senior ODI team last year, but he did not get a chance to play then.

Meanwhile, Australia has included fast bowling all-rounder Jack Edwards and left-arm spinner Matt Kuhneman in the team for the third and final ODI against India on Saturday, while Marnus Labuschagne has been released to play in the Sheffield Shield.

Labuschagne was included in the ODI squad ahead of the first match against India in Perth after all-rounder Cameron Green was ruled out with a minor injury.

However, Labuschagne could not make it to the playing eleven for both these matches. Australia has achieved an unassailable lead in the series by winning both these matches. Wicketkeeper Josh Inglis may get a chance to play in the final ODI.
