Municipal Corporation (MCD) will soon call Delhi’s dog lovers and animal rights workers and take opinion from them. According to the order of the Supreme Court, the corporation is going to make points for feeding dogs in all 250 wards in Delhi. The officials gave information about this.
The official said that meetings are being held to fix feeding points in all 250 wards. These points will be kept away from the residential areas so that possible health and safety concerns can be avoided. Discussions are going on with the Veterinary Department, the hygiene department, RWA, local representative and resident so that feeding points are both practical and safe.
Appeal to Dog Lovers to get a place
He said, “This work will have to be done in a planned manner. It is not easy to identify safe places in more than 200 wards, so consultation with various departments and stakeholders is extremely important. If a dog lover or animal welfare worker provides land or proper place, where dogs can be fed, such sites will be considered to be included in the official list.”
Dog shelter will be built here
Delhi is one of the most stray dog population cities and the issue often causes dispute between residents, feeders and municipal bodies. The MCD said that it has started work on implementing the order of the Supreme Court.
The plan is to install dog shelters on Dwarka Sector 29 and Bela Road, where aggressive dogs can be kept. There is enough space at both places and already ABC (Animal Birth Control) Center and Kennel are present.
What is the order of the Supreme Court?
Let us know that on August 23, the Supreme Court had amended its order regarding stray dogs. The apex court had said that after catching the dogs, they should have sterilization and vaccination. After this, they should be released from where they were brought.
At the same time, the Supreme Court had said that rabies -prone and dangerous dogs will be kept closed in the dog shelter home itself. Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), NCR and other municipal corporations created dog feeding areas in every area. People give food here. Also, the corporation should issue a helpline number, so that there can be a complaint here that food is being given in the road and street instead of the dog feeding area.
