Shweta Tripathi was born on 6 July 1985 in New Delhi. His father was an IAS officer and his mother was a school teacher. He has received a graduation degree in fashion communication from the National Institute of Fashionary Technology.

Shweta wanted to become an actress since childhood and this dream came true from her first film Masan, in which she worked with Vicky Kaushal. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film won two awards at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.
