Emphasizing on regional economic opportunities, he described Bangladesh as the hub of connectivity for the Seven Sisters of Nepal, Bhutan and India.

We have made great progress in signing agreements with the best international port management companies to take the capacity of our ports to international standards. If we are not able to increase its capacity, we will lag behind in economic achievements.

Mohammad Yunus also gave a statement regarding the foreign policy of Bangladesh. He said that he has been able to firmly restore Bangladesh’s sovereignty, national interests and the country’s dignity in foreign policy. He said that Bangladesh has today established itself as a country which is capable of taking necessary strategic decisions for the future while maintaining balance. Mohammad Yunus said, ‘The Rohingya crisis poses a serious threat to national security, regional stability and the economy. Unfortunately, for a long time no effective and international initiative was visible to solve this crisis. Since assuming office, we have brought this issue to the attention of the world. Understanding the seriousness of this crisis, the United Nations has stood with Bangladesh.
