Can A Human Survive Without Sleep For 50 Years: Some things not only surprise humans, but science also gets astonished by them. If you are in India, you must be coming across such claims and truths every few days. A similar claim that surprises both human and medical science has been made in Madhya Pradesh. 75 year old retired joint collector Mohan Lal Dwivedi, resident of Rewa, MP, said that he has not slept for the last 50 years. The most surprising thing is that while medical experts and research keep telling how important sleep is for humans, and if proper sleep is not available then all kinds of diseases and problems start occurring, whereas Mohan Lal is living a normal, active and healthy life without sleep. Let us tell you how this is possible.

What is Mohan Lal’s claim?

Talking to ABP News, Mohanlal Dwivedi, who lives in Chanakyapuri Colony of Rewa district of MP, says that this problem started with him around the year 1973. Since then he has not been able to sleep. On the other hand, in medical science it is written in big and bold words that “Sleep is the Best Medicine”. A healthy and fit person requires 6 to 8 hours of sleep daily. If he does not sleep for a long time, its effects start appearing in his body. According to their claim, they neither feel sleep nor feel pain when injured like normal people. Despite being awake all night, they do not feel any irritation in the eyes, fatigue or any reduction in their ability to work.

He started his career as a lecturer in 1973. After passing the Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission examination in 1974, he became Deputy Tehsildar and retired from the post of Joint Collector in 2001. Mohan Lal says that he spends most of his time reading books and is often seen walking on the terrace at night. The surprising thing in this is that his wife also sleeps for 3 to 4 hours.

What do experts say?

Dr. Aresh Singh, senior physician of Azamgarh District Hospital, clearly says that “According to medical science, it is not considered possible that a person has not slept at all for 50 years.” They say that the human brain gets seriously affected within a few days without sleep.
