In Jammu, all schools have been ordered to be closed on Monday (September 1) amidst heavy rains and landslides incidents. The Directorate of School Education has cited continuous rains and landslides in the mountainous areas of the division.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has informed about the heavy damage caused by rain in Jammu and Kashmir. He has said, “There is no doubt that there has been a lot of loss to our national highway, especially in Udhampur district.

Will assess the loss with Amit Shah
At the same time, on the visit of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Jammu and Kashmir, CM Omar Abdullah said, “Amit Shah is not coming here to review any security or development. He is coming to assess the damage caused by floods and rain. Tomorrow when we talk to him at the Raj Bhavan, all matters will be put in front of him.”
Administration prepared amidst the possibility of destruction
Katra Piyush Dhotra, SDM of Jammu and Kashmir, has told that there is no need to panic. It has been raining heavy for the last three-four days. Here in Katra Subdivision, some of our places have become unsafe. Landslides have occurred in some places. Some of our roads have collapsed a bit. There is a landslide in Banganga this morning. On one hand, we are working to clean the roads so that the contact can be restored. On the other hand, our intention is that if the landslide increases in future, then there is no loss of life and property. “
