Data was taken from 1,117 American Internues in KPMG’s 2025 Intern Pulse Surveyy. The study revealed that the most important thing for Gen Z is work and balance of life. 47 percent of interns said that they want to change the way traditional 9-5 work. After this comes the salary number. This means that the price of mental health and time is the highest for this generation.
Importance of mental health
Mental health is very important for Gen Z. According to a research by deloitte, about 46 percent of Gen Z employees feel stress or anxiety most of the time. Therefore, they choose a job and company that gives importance to their mental health and comfort.
Technology and way of learning
Gen Z is technically very strong. But they only like to learn more personal guidance and hand-handed learning than AI and online training. Meaning they like real experience and real conversation more.
Need flexible and balanced work
Gen Z believes that work-life balance is necessary not only for mental peace, but also to increase the productivity of work. They want hires to respect their personal time and give them a flexible working option. If they get a comfort zone, then it is better for them to work.
If stated in simple words, the priorities of Gen Z are different from traditional employees. These people give more importance to mental health, flexibility and personal time.
