The statistics of heart attacks in America are shocking. Every year more than 8 lakh people become victims of heart attack, that is, approximately one person every 40 seconds. In many cases it is due to chronic heart disease, but sudden cardiac arrest can kill without warning.

The body goes through many changes as soon as you wake up in the morning. Cortisol, the stress hormone, increases, blood pressure goes up, and platelets become sticky. This means that the heart has to work hardest in the morning, even if you haven’t even got up to make tea.

Dr. Sanjay Bhojraj explains that morning time is a “high-alert window” for the heart. Research also proves that the incidence of heart attacks and sudden cardiac death is highest between 7 pm and 11 pm. A small second peak during the day is seen between 5 and 6 pm.

This danger increases further when people move at high speed as soon as they wake up. Skip the coffee, water on an empty stomach, forget the medicines, and jump straight into work. The body is already under stress from within and on top of that, this routine puts more pressure on the heart.

According to doctors, starting the morning slowly is important for heart health. Drinking water as soon as you wake up, taking medicines on time and having light food or protein-filled drinks gives relief to the heart. This reduces the morning heart stress window to a great extent.

If you get time in the morning, 10 to 15 minutes of light movement like walking, stretching or just walking slowly around the house is very beneficial for the heart. The body should not start with sudden jerks.

Doctors believe that if people make some changes in their morning habits, the risks of heart attack and sudden cardiac death can be reduced to a great extent. Some water, some rest and some movement is what the heart needs.
