Who should not drink water in the morning?

Dr. Jamna Sharma, an expert at Chandigarh-based Dietkalp Nutrition Center, says that for most people, drinking water as soon as they wake up in the morning is beneficial, but caution is necessary in some health conditions. People suffering from kidney disease, heart failure, acid reflux or swelling in the body (edema) should not drink too much water in the morning. In such cases, doctor’s advice is necessary. The elderly are more at risk of silent dehydration because they do not feel thirsty, which can lead to confusion, weakness and lack of concentration.
