Mount Everest Deaths: Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak is a special place for mountaineers. But this place is also very dangerous. Many climbers lose their lives in an attempt to offer this dangerous mountain. Please tell that it is also called the world’s highest open cemetery. Meanwhile, a question arises how the dead body is brought back from Mount Everest. Let’s know how this happens and how difficult it is.
How difficult to get dead body from Everest
It is very difficult to remove the body of a dead climber from Mount Everest. Actually, at such a height, helicopters also cannot fly safely. This is the reason why the experienced Sherpa climbers have to go for this work. Finding the dead body is very difficult because it is often buried under thick layers of ice. Due to too much cold, bodies freeze and sometimes one hundred and fifty kilos of snow becomes a piece. To remove them, hammers or special equipment are required.
Carcass process
After the body is found, it is placed on a sled and then tied with a rope. After this, climbers take down from this dangerous shield. The whole process can take several days. After reaching the lower camp like Camp 2, the helicopter takes the body to the base camp. This process becomes even more dangerous due to bad weather.
Dead body price
The more difficult this process is, the more expensive it is. About 25 lakh to 80 lakh rupees can be spent in this entire work. In some cases, such as a Mongolian climber’s body was reportedly spent by $ 9 million, which the family himself gave.
Why do many bodies remain on the mountain?
Despite the improvement in rescue operations, many families are unable to afford so much. Along with this, there are some places on Everest where even experienced Sherpa cannot reach. This entire process is not only for climbers, but also for the rescue team. Due to sudden landslides, cracks and bad weather, the rescue operation becomes very dangerous. Sherpa has to take a lot of hard work and endanger his life to take the body safely.
