Symptoms of Mouth Ulcers: A blister is formed in the mouth when the delicate inner layer or mucous membrane gets worn out or cut due to some reason. There can be many reasons for this, but the most common reason is injury such as suddenly biting the inner surface of the cheek. Apart from this, effects of medicines, some types of rashes, viral, bacterial, fungal infections, chemicals and some medical conditions can also become the cause of ulcers. If a blister does not heal for a long time, it can also be a sign of oral cancer. Because in most cases the blisters are harmless and heal on their own in 10 to 14 days without any treatment.

recurring ulcers

According to Betterhealth, some people repeatedly struggle with the problem of ulcers. These are called aphthous ulcers and are seen in about 20 percent of people. In most people, there is no clear reason for this, but in some cases, deficiency of Vitamin B, folate or iron can also cause this problem. These blisters form on the inside of the lips, the skin of the cheeks, the sides of the tongue, the lower part of the mouth, the upper back part and the soft layer near the tonsils. These are usually not larger than 5 mm. Sometimes more than one blister forms simultaneously or merges with each other. These get cured in 10 to 14 days, but have a habit of repeating again and again.

blisters that don’t heal

If a blister does not heal for more than two weeks or starts forming again and again, it is important to see a dentist or doctor. Especially if you consume tobacco or drink alcohol, do not ignore such non-healing ulcers, because both things increase the risk of oral cancer.
