Police officers in Madhya Pradesh formed a three -member Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday, which will investigate the allegations that Congress MLA Arif Masood is operating a college based on fake documents, so that his institute can be recognized.
Officials said the SIT will be headed by Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Telecom Sanjeev Shami and Deputy Inspector General of Chhindwara Range Kalyan Chakraborty and Assistant Inspector General of Inspector General and Nimisha Pandey are other members of SIT.

The government had canceled the recognition of Indira Priyadarshini College Bhopal, run by the Aman Education Society, which was challenged by Masood in the High Court. Masood is the secretary of this society.
During the hearing of the petition filed by the MLA, an FIR has been lodged against him on a directive passed by the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Anil Bajpai said that an FIR has been lodged under sections 420 (fraud) and 471 (using fake documents) of the Indian Penal Code at the Kohifija police station.
What did the court say to the DGP?
A division bench of Justice Atul Sreedharan and Justice Pradeep Mittal ordered the Bhopal Police Commissioner to register an FIR against Masood within three days in Jabalpur on Monday. The court said that the DGP should constitute a special investigation team to investigate the case.
