“It should not come back now…this is your job.” These words of the wife ruined the relationship of trust. After 10 days of hard work, the police solved the mystery of the body of an unknown youth found in the bushes under the Sindh River bridge in Goraghat police station area of Datia. Such a revelation which shocked the entire area. This was not an accident, but a planned murder due to a love affair and the mastermind of this conspiracy turned out to be the wife of the deceased herself.
In fact, on February 6, a sensation spread when the dead body of a 35-year-old youth was found in the bushes under the Sindh River bridge on the highway in Goraghat police station area. Seeing the condition of the dead body, the police suspected murder from the beginning. The post mortem report confirmed this suspicion. Death was due to strangulation. Due to lack of identification, the case became like a blind murder. As per the procedure, the police buried the body.
Identity revealed after 2 days, then truth came out from the grave
On February 8, the deceased was identified as Hansraj Verma, son of Ramsingh Verma, resident of Jhansi. When the family reached the police station, the police took out the buried body with the help of JCB and handed it over to the family for the last rites. From here the investigation gained momentum. Statements of family members, call details and technical evidence led the police to a relationship from where the script of the murder was written.
How did the bloody murder game begin?
Investigation revealed that there was a phone conversation between Hansraj’s wife Babita Verma and her uncle’s son Hemant Arya for a long time. The conversation gradually turned into a love affair. Hansraj used to do old oil business. Money transactions were done through the wife’s PhonePe account. On this pretext, the conversation between Babita and Hemant started, which soon turned into closeness.
February 4… Wife’s order and murder plan
The story that came out during police interrogation is shocking. On 4 February, Hansraj left for Gwalior. The same day Babita called her lover Hemant and said that now he should not come back… this is your job. From here the murder conspiracy was confirmed. Hemant included his partner Anil Khatik in the plan.
Liquor, bike and muffler… this is how the murder was planned
On February 5, Hemant and Anil made Hansraj drink alcohol. When he was drunk, he was tricked into leaving Jhansi on a bike. On the way, drank alcohol near Dabra and then Goraghat bridge. As soon as they crossed the bridge in Goraghat police station area, all three stopped in the bushes on the roadside. It was here that Hansraj was murdered by strangulation with a muffler and the body was thrown in the bushes.
10 days, call details and one truth
When the police scrutinized the call details, they found evidence of continuous conversations between Babita and Hemant before and after the murder. Railway tickets, mobile location and statements of witnesses kept connecting the links. Finally, on February 17, the police arrested the three accused Hemant Arya (33), resident of Gwalior, Anil Khatik (35), resident of Gwalior and wife Babita Verma (32). At the behest of the accused, the police have seized the muffler, liquor bottles, mobile phone and motorcycle used in the murder.
16 years of marriage, two children… still murder
According to the police, Babita told during interrogation that she had been married for about 16 years and had two children. He alleged that Hansraj was addicted to alcohol and often used to fight. But amidst this statement, his love affair and murder conspiracy also came to light.
