After Burhanpur in Madhya Pradesh, now a case of tension has come up in two communities during the Ganesh statue immersion in Bhopal. On the night of 8 September in Arif Nagar, Bhopal, stress spread due to a sudden throwing stones during the Ganesh statue immersion procession.

Angry people reached Gautam Nagar police station and started demanding the arrest of the accused. Slogans and protests also took place during this period. The police reached the spot and tried to calm the crowd and assured to take action against the culprits.

How did the incident happen?

At around 9 pm on 8 September, the procession from Arif Nagar was going towards the DIG bungalow, when suddenly an unknown person allegedly threw stones on the procession. Stoning caused chaos and stampede. People who came in the procession got angry and reached to surround the police station directly. Many people also started demanding to run bulldozers at the house of the accused.

We will take action against the culprits- police

Seeing the situation deteriorating, the police immediately increased security. ACP Rakesh Singh Baghel reached the spot and appealed to the people to maintain peace. He said, “We will take action against the culprits. Even before, we will still do it, but for this we have to believe in you.”

The immersion procession was temporarily stopped. The police has started investigation and the process of identifying the accused is also going on. According to PTI, the administration assured that the culprits would be arrested soon.

Pressure of Hinduist organizations

After the incident, activists of Hinduist organizations also reached the police station. He made it clear that till the arrest is not done, his movement will not stop. There is an atmosphere of tension in the area after stone pelting. Additional police force has been deployed to maintain peace. The administration is constantly appealing to the people not to come under any rumor or provocation.
