Mrunal Thakur on battling body shaming
Mrinal admitted that earlier, she often felt depressed due to the pressure of following small standards of beauty. Mrinal told News 18 during an interview, “I too have had my days. There were days when I would go to sleep crying. I would wake up with swollen eyes and tell myself that this is not worth it.”
He said that it takes a lot of courage to overcome these feelings, especially in an environment where support is not always available. The turning point came when he realized that accepting oneself was the key to confidence. A chance meeting with a young fan forced him to rethink his views. While the fan was praising her body, Mrinal realized that she herself was desiring someone else’s physique. That moment helped him understand how important it is to value yourself first instead of seeking validation from others.
Akshay Kumar gave advice to Mrinal Thakur
Mrinal also gave credit to actor Akshay Kumar for strengthening his journey of self-belief. Recalling his advice, she said, “I met Akshay sir, and what he told me was beautiful. He told me, ‘I’m so happy that you have embraced this version of yourself. It’s great that you don’t listen to the voices around you that trigger you or say a thousand things, and you just do what you feel. But if you have to tone it down for a role, then do that.’ Mrinal said that his words left a deep impression on him and gave him the confidence to give priority to his own well-being rather than external pressures.
Over time, she has embraced her natural curves and learned to be comfortable in her own skin, emphasizing the importance of self-acceptance. With a circle of supportive friends and a positive mindset, Mrinal says she now feels empowered to face public scrutiny.
