Why retire on August 15?

The date of August 15 is not only MS Dhoni but one of his best friends is also special for Suresh Raina. Both of them stopped their international cricket career on the same day. Five years ago, Raina himself told why he and Dhoni announced retirement on 15 August itself.

After retiring on 15 August 2020, Suresh Raina had revealed in a media interview and told that, “We had already made up their mind that Dhoni will announce retirement on August 15 (Saturday). Dhoni’s jersey number is ‘7’ and my jersey number is ‘3’. The two are formed 73 and on 15 August (2020), India could not get independence on 15 August (2020).

Former cricketer Suresh Raina also said that Dhoni started his career on 23 December 2004, while his career started on 30 July 2005. Raina said that the career of both of them started at the same time, he also stayed together for many years in Chennai Super Kings and he had decided to take retirement together.
