Mumbai Police has withdrawn the police security given to famous film director Hansal Mehta and actor Salman Khan’s manager Prashant Gunjalkar. According to police sources, the security department has taken this decision on the instructions of senior officials. Under this, the policemen deployed for the security of both have also been removed.
Hansal Mehta got security in 2021
According to police officials, after the tremendous success of the web series Scam 1992 in the year 2021, Hansal Mehta and his family started receiving continuous threatening calls from a caller. The caller told his name as Rohit.
Hansal Mehta had lodged a complaint with Mumbai Police regarding this matter, after which he was given police protection. Even before this, in 2009, he had received threats during the controversy over the dialogues of a film.
Salman Khan’s manager’s security also withdrawn
At the same time, police protection was provided to Salman Khan’s manager Prashant Gunjalkar in the year 2023. In March 2023, he received a threatening email from an ID named Mohit Garg.
In the email, quoting Goldie Brar, a demand was made to talk to Salman Khan and a warning was given of serious consequences if the talks did not take place. After this email, Gunjalkar had lodged an FIR with the police, on the basis of which he was given security.
Who are still getting security?
According to sources, police protection of some other celebrities will continue for now. These include producer Sajid Nadiadwala, actor Ayush Sharma, standup comedian Munawar Farooqui, actor Govinda and singer AP Dhillon. Police say that security is reviewed from time to time based on threat assessment and further decisions are taken accordingly.
