Murshidabad vioolence: Security forces are keeping a strong monitoring to prevent any incident of violence regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. At the same time, politics is also happening regarding the matter. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is an attacker on Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. BJP MP Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state.

Talking to news agency ANI, the BJP leader said, “It is the responsibility of the state government to establish a law in the state. The way the violence is increasing in West Bengal, it shows that all this is happening under the patronage of the Mamta government. Now the guards have become the eater. The police is not doing anything. The state is a sponsored violence. When the government has promoted violence, who will be protected, who will be protected.”

‘Not only Muslims, Bangladeshi and Rohingya also included’

He further said, “CM (Mamta Banerjee) said that she will not allow the Waqf Act to be implemented in the state, and their statement is provoking people, after which the violence is increasing. Hindus are migrating, they are being attacked. It is causing attacks. It is not only Muslims but also Bangladeshi, Rohingya and illegal intruders. Needed.”

A large number of force deployed

Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), State Armed Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed in large numbers in Jangipur, Dhulian, Suti and Shamsherganj. However, there has been no new incident of violence in the area in the last 48 hours. The state police said that the situation is gradually becoming normal in the riot affected areas of Murshidabad, shops are opening and displaced families are coming back.

There were violent protests in several areas including Sati, Dhulian and Jangipur in the district on Friday and Saturday regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act. Demonstrations soon turned into clashes, killing at least three people and injured several.
