Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi is married to Maria Goretti. Arshak recently recalled the early days of his marriage with Maria and told how hesitant he was when Maria’s Catholic parents came to know about their relationship. The actor told that initially there was nervousness, but with time and understanding everything gradually changed.
Maria’s parents were nervous about her marriage with Arshad
Talking to Lallantop, Arshad said that Maria’s parents were mostly tensed because it was an inter-religion marriage, which they had not thought of for their daughter. Arshad said, “They were a little nervous. A Catholic girl and a Muslim boy. Both are very decent. There is nothing in their life except Jesus Christ. They were a little nervous because they expected Maria to marry another Catholic boy who would do a 9-5 job, and this caught the Muslim boy and he was also jobless.”
Maria’s parents considered Arshad a good person at heart.
Arshad further told that even at that time, Maria’s parents believed that he was a good person and they were confident that he would take care of their daughter. With time, his belief changed into full acceptance. Arshad said, “Deep down he knew he was a good person. He had full faith that he would take care of our daughter. But gradually he realized that there is no one better than me. Now he is very happy and lives with me. His self-respect forces him to live in his own house, but we somehow managed to bring him here.”
How did Arshad and Maria’s love story start?
The actor also told about the beginning of his love story with Maria. Arshad first met Maria in Xavier College, where he had gone to play the role of a judge in a competition. Working with Maria in theater deepened their friendship. This friendship gradually blossomed into love, although Arshad admitted that it took time and effort, as Maria finally agreed after several refusals.
Let us tell you that Arshad and Maria got married in 1996 and they have two children, son Zaiq Warsi and daughter Zeyne Warsi.
