In this painful accident, 11 people lost their lives, including 4 children. 11 people have been injured, who are being treated in GTB Hospital. The building was in an unauthorized colony and relatives say the accident occurred by removing a pillar during renovation on the ground floor.

Devendra Yadav said that more than 70% of Delhi’s population lives in villages, unauthorized colonies and rehabilitation colonies, where maps of buildings do not pass. Political battle of BJP and AAP
This accident has warmed the politics of Delhi. The BJP accused the AAP that it promoted unauthorized construction in Muslim -dominated areas for vote banks. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said, “In the last 10 years, AAP MLAs and councilors gave an open exemption to 5-6 floor buildings in areas like Mustafabad. At the same time, Labor Minister Kapil Mishra blamed AAP for” vote bank politics “.
Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal expressed grief on behalf of AAP and appealed to the workers to help in rescue work. But AAP retaliated at the BJP and said that even during the long power of BJP in MCD, unauthorized construction flourished. Both parties are blaming each other of corruption and negligence.
Government and MCD trend
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered an inquiry into the accident and said that the culprits will not be spared. MCD has said to start a survey of unauthorized and unsafe buildings. But Yadav described it as inadequate and said, “Every year MCD makes a list of dangerous buildings, but nothing happens. In January 2025, 5 -storey building collapsed in Burari, even then 5 people had died. Even then no lesson was taken.
The Prime Minister’s Office announced a compensation of Rs 2-2 lakh for the dead and Rs 50,000 for the injured, but Yadav described it as “insufficient in inflation”.
Big appeal to improve building rules
The accident of Mustafabad highlights the serious problem of unauthorized construction in Delhi. Yadav clearly said that until the building rules do not improve and corruption will not be curbed, such accidents are not going to stop. He appealed to the government that

- Strict action should be taken against corrupt officials of MCD and Delhi government.
- The affected families should be given appropriate compensation immediately.
MLA Mohan Singh Bisht also admitted that the infrastructure of the area cannot bear the burden of such tall buildings.
